*Chordmaps are an amalgamation of chords and scales. Each chord map can yield sometimes 5 chord shapes in its given key. Chords are made up of 2+ notes in the respective scale. EADGBE has evolved to provide a good compromise between simple fingering for many chords and the ability to play common scales with minimal left hand movement giving highly responsive chords and well renowned chord shapes. Alternate tunings have wider fret spans making normal chords difficult to reach. That’s not to say chords map don’t have good chords. With a little effort some original and strikingly beautiful chords can be found in Chord Maps.
