The importance of tuning your guitar

When you play the guitar, learning how to tune it properly is one of the most important things that you can do. If a guitar is out of tune, then it can sound bad even if you are technically playing it right. The subtle differences between a note that is flat and a note that is of the right pitch can make a really big difference when you are playing a song and especially if you are playing with other people who are in tune when you are not. So while knowing the right techniques to enable you to play a song well is also something that guitarists need to be able to do, it will not matter how polished your technique is if you are playing out of tune.

It is a good idea to tune your guitar, at least briefly, every single time that you pick it up to play. Some guitars go out of tune really quickly, even while you are playing it, so if you get into the habit of doing this every time you pick it up, you will reduce the chances of it being out of tune.
