Guitar Tuning Map – A way to visualize Guitar Tunings

We have created and mapped out all of the tunings on gtdb.org so that you can visualize how to tune the strings.

For many alternate tunings are difficult to achieve. It can be like walking in the dark.

Take a look at the Tuning map for DADGAD below. You can easily see which strings stay the same, which strings need to tune up and how many frets are needed to achieve the tuning.

The GTDB Tuning Map has been applied to all tunings. Even I was surprised at the versatility of this new feature.

It gave me a great insight into any tuning I looked at on gtdb.org. It even makes it obvious which tunings are out of bounds due to string tension. All tunings are possible with the right gauge string.

I hope this makes it easy for everyone to be able to visualize tunings instead of trying to get to grips with them on your head alone.

Enjoy :)
